My thoughts
I may have discovered another advantage to getting older: seasoned, stubborn chops. #musician1/2/2017 When I took a hiatus from practicing in my youth, it would always be a real struggle to get back to performing form. This Christmas, I also took a break to be with family but on returning to the horn, I was suprised to notice that the trombone felt familiar and sounded decent! Maybe this is the payoff for years upon years of practicing: residual muscles or a grouchy embouchure that just does not want to budge, go on vacation, or something like that. Whatever it is, I am thankful for this turn of events and will not overthink it.
