My thoughts
Things are back on track. Classes are going well. The band is doing nicely. Just finished my latest arrangement, although it needs tinkering. The kids have a truce and it seems to be holding. The wife and I are getting some quality time. It is during these times that I often feel uneasy. My minds starts to wander and my eyes frequently move to the "to do" list, which never seems to diminish. I think we have to be okay with that. I have a card somewhere that reminds me that "there will always be a to-do list." Sometimes just vocalising this fact helps.

My brother-in-law asked me what my favourite part of 2015 was. I really try to avoid such questions. I mean, you really should answer with something that reflects family or love or some selfless act. The best thing I could come up with, on the spot, was my invitation to teach at Western University. I guess that reflects my ego. On further reflection, I remarked to my wife that another highlight was watching my son hustle to keep up with the skate instructor at the local rink. Boy is that little man motivated. He may be even more driven than me and that is a scary thought. Watching him take short cuts and make a "bee line" for the instructor, in order to be one of first in the game of follow the leader, made us howl with laughter. So maybe I am not a lost soul after all.
