All Blues (Modal Swing)
This classic tune by Miles Davis has been spiced with a touch of funk, á la Tower of Power. There is only one alto, tenor and baritone saxophone part and two trumpet and two trombone parts, so the arrangement can be played with a full big band or with reduced instrumentation. The melody has been reimagined and there is some wonderful rhythmic interplay between the sections, so be sure to listen to the Sibelius file to get a "taste." Comfortable ranges for the brass and engaging parts for the entire ensemble. As a flex arrangement, this chart can be played with a minimum of 1st alto, tenor and baritone saxophone and 1st trumpet and trombone; guitar is also optional.
