Arrangements for Big Band and Jazz Combo
Michael Kearns earned a Doctor of Music Education degree at Indiana University, where he studied and performed with the late David Baker. He has performed at Carnegie Hall; toured Ireland, Italy, Germany, and Luxembourg; and has traveled the world as a cruise ship entertainer. He has shared the stage with such jazz greats as Phil Nimmons, Pat Labarbera, Don Thompson, and Ian Finkle. Michael currently teaches music, research, and the liberal arts at Georgian College and Wilfrid Laurier University, performs locally with the Octokats, and leads the After Hours Big Band. A trombonist, arranger, bandleader and researcher on Canadian jazz education, his performances, pedagogy, publications and arrangements can be found on this website.
